Truman mcnulty grants: the mcnulty grants are awarded to charitable or educational programs that promote public understanding of the law, or improve the administration of justice, or are a law-related public service project. The recipients of the fy2017 grants included: abc for health, inc. , boys & girls club of portage county, inc. , centro legal, community justice, inc, state bar of wisconsin new lawyer challenges committee and winnebago county teen court. state bar law-related education programs: the state bar law-related education program grants support the high school mock trial tournament and the our courts wisconsin program, which promote awareness of the law and citizenship through interactive educational experiences. The high school mock trial tournament familiarizes students with the american legal system with students participating in a trial simulation as lawyers and witnesses. Our courts wisconsin offers nonpartisan informational programs to adult audiences throughout wisconsin. Specially trained legal professionals make presentations free of charge to community groups. state bar annual meeting & conference scholarships: donald o'melia scholarships were awarded to young/new lawyers who participated in the state bar's leadership development summit and committed to serving in a volunteer capacity. These scholarships defray the cost of attending the state bar of wisconsin's annual meeting & conference and allow new lawyers to attend and network with their peers. One award is given to a graduate of the university of wisconsin law school. One award is given to a graduate of marquette university law school. One award is given to a graduate of a law school located outside wisconsin who is practicing in wisconsin. The g. Lane ware leadership fund which provides scholarships to cover the registration fee for attorneys to attend a comprehensive leadership development training program designed to empower participants with the skills, stratgies and resources to become effective leaders in their careers, communities, bar associations and the profession itself.
