The association of texas photography instructors was formed to share ideas and information about teaching photography to high school students. This goal is accomplished through quarterly newsletters, conferences, and workshops. The organization also provides scholarship assistance to qualifying students and sponsors photography contests for students.

The organization served 214 members during the year ended june 30, 2015. In addition, the quarterly newsletter was sent to approximately 460 subscribers, the summer workshop was attended by 35 educators, and the winter conference was attended by 278 students and 35 instructors. Scholarships assistance was provided to 6 qualifying students.
