The york county bar association is a non-profit professional membership association of attorneys and judges. It exists to serve the needs of the lawyers, judges and public of york county. The association and its members have dedicated themselves to the following general purposes:*providing services and benefits to member attorneys to enable their successful practice of law; *promoting a legal and judical system where the rights of all persons can be asserted, defined and protected; *rendering assistance to the various courts before which we practice, thereby helping to improve the quality of justice; *developing mutual trust and confidence among the members of the bar, between the bench and the bar, and between the bar and the community at large; *educating the public on legal matters; *striving for the highest standards of ethical conduct; *ensuring quality continuing legal programs for the members;*providing legal representation of the indigent.
York county bar foundation: support to the foundation - promotes the opportunity for giving by members and friends. Donations to the various funds not only helps them grow, but each year a percentage is used in the grant making process of the foundation. membership development: professional membership association of attorney and judges with over 500 members, open to any person admitted to practice law in pa. The york county bar assocation offers support services, recognition and retention of members for 509 active and honorary members. york legal record: weekly publication that contains notices that by statute require publication or public notice also produces and serves as a record of cases argued and determined in york county courts. lawyer referral service: a service set up to help individuals find an attorney with experience in the field of law needed. Client pays $50 for half hour consultation. The modest means application fee is $25 - refunded if the case doesn't qualify. During 2017, there were 349 referrals made for legal services and 132 referrals for modest means. Continuing legal education: program offers many courses where attorneys can receive the required education needed for license. During the 2017 year, 16 courses were provided and had 482 attendees.
