The mission of the chamber is to provide leadership for the advancement of economic vitality and quality of life for its members and the total community.

Programs

The baton rouge area chamber's (brac) efforts to lead economic development in the nine-parish area exceeded goals for 2016, securing $44. 3 million in new annual payroll from 884 permanent jobs with 8 project wins and $362. 5 million in capital expenditures. In addition to recruiting and retaining jobs and capital investment in 2016, brac completed 201 visits to existing companies across the region. Brac also conducted lead generation, international missions, site selector familiarization tours, and industry sector trade shows. brac led initiatives to improve our strategic competitiveness as a region. The organization sought to preserve parent choice and increase accountability within the school system with the objective of ensuring the k-12 system prepares students to compete with the global workforce. In the area of talent, brac hosted over twenty-seven executive recruitment tours, maintained a talent database of over five hundred resumes, and produced talent-focused events such as, around the table, a dining experience that allows newcomers to interact with long-time residents. The event received national recognition in chamber executive magazine. Brac held a variety of events through the year, ranging from business networking to educational programs, and from a half-day entrepreneurship event to a major annual summit.
