The ycva grants program provides financial assistance to seven social service organizations in the local community. This includes $30,000 to a local food bank, $8,000 for the local meals on wheels program, and $5,000 for senior home repairs. the ycva provides financial assistance to needy families and individuals. 328 families were assisted by the family assistance committee with housing, utility, medical, and transportation expenses. 600 families were provided christmas gift cards for students in the free-lunch program. Five students were provided with summer school tuition allowing them to graduate with their class. the ycva provides scholarships for needy individuals for training which will improve their employment and earning potential. Twenty individuals received scholarships totaling $20,694. the ycva operates the bargain box thrift store. Donated household goods are sold at a fraction of the new retail price providing large savings for needy individuals and families. Profits from these sales support the other ycva charitable programs. The bargain box serves about 1500 customers a month.
