Programs

The arizona state fire training committee has two primary functions. 1. Fund, manage, administer and operate arizona state fire school. Fire school is a once per year activity conducted in september of every year. The 2017 fire school served 727 firefighters in 31 classes over five days conducted at the mesa convention center, mesa marriott hotel, phoenix fire training facility, scottsdale fire training facility, tempe fire training facility, mesa fire training facility, mesa maintenance / fire resource center, mcc / williams education center and the chandler fire training facility. Fire school is open to any arizona firefighter affiliated with any municipal fire department, fire district, non profit fire company or for profit fire company. However over 80% of our attendees are from very rural and small fire departments where training facilities and opportunities are very limited. 2. Fund, manage, administer and operate the arizona center for fire service excellence. The center has three primary responsibilities: a. ) coordinate with fire departments and education centers to provide certification testing for students and firefighters who have completed training activities and are ready for testing. B. ) coordinate and conduct workshops for arizona firefighters in activities that are not certified but generate certificates of completion. C. ) cooperate with the arizona department of administration in maintaining arizona firefighters education transcripts and records. In the 2017 calendar year, the center tested for certification in 6 different classifications representing 103 classes serving 1607 students / firefighters. In the 2017 calendar year, the center conducted or coordinated for certificates ofcompletion 11 different classifications representing 49 classes serving 830 students / firefighters.
