Program "through the heart of tango" the purpose of this project is to document through film, the process of what it takes and what it means to form a genuine connection with another through match a friend, a program that aims to teach diverse youth what it means to connect as friends with individuals who have autism. Most persons with autism spectrum disorder (asd) are often times challenged with language and social skills making it very difficult to interact and engage with others. This documentary will follow the story of each featured youth and friend in a journey exploring what it really means come together. program "match a friend"/adam's ranch - program match a friendprovides a new, fresh and unique perspective of working with both autistic (as well as other special needs) and non-autistic youth, teaching them how to connect through dance, arts, film and theatre. In 2012 diu provided training for "friends" in preparation for filming and the social autism awareness event that took place on april 21 and 22, 2012. Also, in 2012 we visited number of california ranches in order to establish connections and to plan ranch activities for autistic children. book project: dance into unity is working on a book called "the puzzle of the tall tower" which discusses the journey of symbolic characters going from the land of separation to the land of unity, which relates to autism as a disease of disconnection in our society.
