Washed ashore is a project of artula institute for arts and environmental education. Washed ashore creates unique and compelling gigantic marine debris sculptures, currently very popular with both the general public and sponsors. These powerful artistic experiences are designed to educate a global audience about the perils of plastic pollution in oceans and waterways in order to inspire positive changes in consumer habits. Currently, the washed ashore project represents over 95% of artulas budget and programming activities. As an income generating product and program, washed ashore represents the core element of artulas long-term sustainability. Washed ashore completed an extensive contract to deliver 12 sculptures to seaworld in march of 2014. Washed ashore also created 32 marine debris sculptures and introduced bouy, beat and bop, 22 new musical sculptures created and debuted at the san francisco zoo in june of 2014.
