To that end york college has invested heavily in downtown york through the marketview arts complex and the center for community engagement. York college has also partnered with the school district of the city of york, a distressed pennsylvania school district through the york county community opportunity scholarship program. This program provides educational opportunity and scholarships to over 30 promising 10th through 12th grade students who receive mentoring and tutoring during high school and then complete their bachelors on campus. With a strong foundation in the liberal arts including over 60 majors, eight graduate programs and 1 doctoral program. York college achieves educational excellence with a 15:1 faculty to student ratio and average class size of 19 students. York college recognizes its mission when students are prepared and graduate and contribute to the community. Over 91% of recent graduates are employed or have continued on to graduate programs. York college has also sought to be at the forefront of social issues partnering with federal and state agencies on the violence against women act. york country day school, an integral part of the college, is a pre-k through grade twelve independent college preparatory school inspiring and nurturing the innovative and creative spirit of students as they pursue their intellectual promise. The extraordinary by design campaign has equipped the school with a state of the art facility for science, technology, engineering arts and math (s. T. E. A. M. The campaign and resulting facility enhancement opened in the fall of 2016 and realized a transformational, relevant and sterling educational program that embraces 21st century technology paired with a robust and rigorous curriculum.
