Consulting/professional development:battelle for kids (bfk) provided counsel and training to school systems to move education forward. Bfk provided teachers with strategies for instruction, assessments, learning standards and data literacy. Bfk offers innovative solutions to build school districts' capacity to improve educational systems through strategic planning, success measures, roster verification, human capital systems, and communications and stakeholder engagement strategies. In 2017, bfk's impact reached educator's in 20+ states. In ohio, bfk engaged over 1,000 educators in 94 districts in professional learning through the soar network, a collaborative of districts leading the way across ohio to envision, co-design and implement innovative models of learning in this new era of education, including growth measures, communications, and data analysis support. Bfk also provided value added data services to 75 local education agencies (leas), including growth measures, communications and data analysis support. Bfk led 11 regional sessions around ohio's local report card using value added to inform practice. Nationally, bfk launched the rural collaborative network consisting of 14 collaboratives from various states focused on opportunity gaps, economic self-sufficiency and educator talent development and grew the colorado rural education collaborative from 30 to 48 districts. products and solutions:bfk has developed innovative products and solutions to complement the consulting and professional development to empower teachers, develop leaders and improve school systems. During fiscal year 2017, bfk finalized the human capital leaders in education (hcle) standards with the american association of school personnel administrators (aaspa). Bfk trained 179 leaders in 20+ states in face-to-face training and virtual pilots. Bfk link is an online roster verification solution that allows educators to verify the subjects, classes and students they teach. During 2017, bfk provided roster verification services to over 900 school districts. Bfk award is a web-based platform that empowers educators to review, inquire and affirm individual participation and performance measures. In 2017, bfk processed awards for school districts which included 5,700 eligible teachers. Over 4,000 received awards totaling nearly $2. 8m in teacher incentives processed through bfk award. Bfk also develops and maintains web portals that enable organizations to provide stakeholders with news, reporting, online courses, videos and other learning tools to support engagement in various education improvement initiatives. Bfk hosts 21 web portals which saw 1. 2m visits during 2016-2017 school year. thought leadership:bfk hosted the 4th annual national forum to advance rural education in partnership with the national rural education association (nrea) and state education agencies in kentucky, ohio and tennessee which engaged over 500 attendees from 40 states. Bfk also hosted the educators connect for success conference which engaged over 550 attendees from 16 states. During this conference, bfk honored 33 teachers with the celebrate teaching distinguished educator award. Bfk also presented 30+ sessions/keynotes at national and state events and developed several publications throughout fiscal year 2017.
