Autism unbound's main mission is to enrich the lives of people with autism and their families. This will be achieved through advocacy and awareness, a teacher grant program, providing grass roots awareness of issues important to the autism community to help raise awareness and help influence legislation, and by purchasing land and developing housing programs for individuals all along the autism spectrum. Autism unbound is a charitable organization.
Education
This fiscal year autism unbound, with the support from the community and our fundraising efforts, was able to bring the wright's law seminar to greensboro to provide training and updates of special education law for parents, teachers, school administrators and other involved stakeholders in the community. We were also able to continue to fund needed supply and resource needs for teachers of autistic students in guilford county. These training and supply grants have become even more imperative with recent budget cuts in the guilford county schools. Also, we have continued to provide bi-monthly topics of educational interest for autistic families ranging from nutrition to incorporating ipads and other technologies for speech therapy. We have also been able to continue to sponsor monthly family outings where we are able to provide autism family friendly events such as movies, swimming, etc. In a non-stigmatic atmosphere for families with autism.
