The autismone 2017 conference was held on may 24-28, 2017, at the hotel elegante conference & event center, colorado springs, colorado. The conference spanned five days and offered over a hundred speakers and presentations. Recent research and intervention innovations were presented by credentialed speakers. Lectures about educational and adjunct therapies for individuals with autism spectrum disorders were presented, with strategies on ways to increase collaboration. Healthful dietary and nutrition information was presented. Registration scholarships were provided to any attendee who needed a scholarship due to financial hardship. Conference videos of the general conference lectures are provided at no charge year-round at the organization website. in 2017, autismone provided a 3-day continuing medical education program and continuing medical education credits (through an established accrediting body). Credentialed scientist informed professionals, laypersons, and parents about a variety of pathophysiological processes frequently encountered in children with autism spectrum disorder. Topics covered included metabolic, gastrointestinal, immunological, mitochondrial, neurological, and motor dysfunction. Subtopics included intestinal inflamma in 2017, autismone held a continuing education track for educators, with lectures by credentialed speakers, which covered such topics as how to provide help for sensory processing disorder; a team approach for occupational, physical, and speech therapy services; equine-assisted therapy; and how to facilitate communication skills for nonverbal individuals more significantly impacted by autism spectrum disorder.
