AOF was established in the summer of 1993 in Sacramento, California, as an independent non-profit educational association with by-laws, officers, and a board of directors. Through its educational programs, projects and publications, AOF extends atheistic perspectives concerning the separation of church and state and the right to think and speak freely on these perspectives.
