In recent years, the commision has sponsored summer-long outdoor public art exhibits and associated educational programming that a free and open to the public. In 2017, the commission hosted "spotlight on the arts," which featured hands-on art activities for children, as well as musical, theatrical and dance performances by area groups and individuals. A dinner took place in the evening where guests were encouraged to support the commission's endowment fund that is in place at the community foundation of dekalb county.
