Programs

Cultural planning:napa arts advisory board and marketing committee: acnv convened regular meetings of arts leaders from throughout the county. The list of participants consists of over 100 arts and culture partners. Acnv developed a sub-committee made up of the marketing directors of the greater coalition organizations. This committee collaborated on countywide arts promotions including napa valley arts and napa valley arts in april. Acnv arts and culture calendar: acnv continued to expand and enhance the acnv arts and culture calendar at www. Nvarts. Org. The napa valley destination council partnered with acnv to host our calendar on their website, effectively making it the official visitor's calendar for napa valley. Local hotels including the marriott, embassy suites and napa river inn host the calendar on their websites as a service to their guests. During the period july 1, 2010-june 30, 2011 traffic to the calendar more than doubled growing from 133,748 page requests to 281,078. The calendar was strengthened to form the platform for arts 2010, a new month-long celebration of the arts. Arts 2010 - cultivating creativity: acnv partnered with napa valley destination council, the city of napa, the city of american canyon, the town of yountville, the napa county office of education and arts organizations throughout the valley to launch the pilot of a month-long celebration of all the arts in napa valley. In this first year there were over 115 events sponsored by 65 presenting partners. This festival is based around acnv's arts and culture community calendar, which continues to expand. Acnv also created an event catalog that was distributed throughout the bay area. Napa valley arts in april: acnv partnered with the napa valley destination council to develop a new program designed to create collaborative relationships between wineries, artists and lodging. The program highlights arts in wineries to draw the attention of cultural tourists. In this launch year, the feature introduced a new concept called "the napa valley collection" which consists of the existing art exhibited in local museums, galleries, wineries and private collections. Acnv is researching, curating and documenting the nv collection in partnership with the napa valley museum. Meet the makers: acnv sponsored the first annual meet the makers invitational photography exhibition. Four photographers were asked to shoot people whom they considered to be important, influential, master or emerging 'makers' in our community. They chose painters, musicians, actors, and beyond. The resulting exhibition at mumm napa included over 60 portraits of inspirational "makers" and was the most successful acnv has ever produced. arts in education: acnv once again partnered with the napa county office of education on the napa county reads program. This year the program was expanded to include the after school program at salvador elementary in addition to our adult artists. The book chosen for this year was "shifty", and 25 artists created unique planter boxes, for auction at the napa county reads reception. Acnv assisted salvador elementary school in their migration to an arts magnet school by administering their teaching artist program. Acnv partnered with the napa county historical society to sponsor a "family history day" as part of the arts 2010 celebration. This event included activities for all ages. Acnv managed the children's art exhibition at napa city hall coordinating, framing and hanging artwork from students in four schools over the course of the year. Each exhibition features an opening reception for students, teachers and families and includes official recognition of the students by the napa city council. Acnv launched an emerging artist grant program to support young artists to prepare their work for display. Acnv sponsored artists at two community events -- napa river rock and stroll and the friends of the river festival. Over 1,000 families participated i
